Back home ... in CHINA!

"We mustn't stay home all our lives. We must look upon it as an adventure."
--- Beatrix Potter (in the movie Miss Potter)

Currently in Shenzhen, China. Papa is tremendously providing for this trip. He has been faithful to what He quietly whispered to me while I packed to fly here. What a hoot packing was in the car down to Orlando! Way to drive mom! :)

In the short time that I've been here, I've been using my Chinese. I'm definitely not fluent, but this morning I was able to buy a Jianlibao (normally like Sprite but this one is Orange & Honey) after three attempts to understand the lady. I got half of it, but couldn't figure out that she was telling me 2.5 yuan; I got 2 something the other two times listening to her. Such a small thing, but very exciting for me to jaunt down the street a little to buy my favorite Chinese soda :) (all by myself even).

I really feel like I've just come home after being gone a while. I have such a peace here amidst very "loose" traffic. The more appropriate description shall have to be told in person upon my American return. But, I really do have a tremendous peace here. Papa is faithful. Real Chinese food (it's not in America) is really GOOD! And if you want to know the details of what all I eat while over here, just ask me when I get back. I will try not to share about that if you don't ask me. I will be enjoying much that you can't eat in the U.S. though ... fo sho! Oh Michael, look forward to hopefully chatting with you or hearing your slang when I return.

You guys are missed, but I know that this was and is where my wonderfully gracious Papa wanted me this summer. Perhaps you can join me on a future international journey; I'd really like that and would enjoy sharing Papa's lovely creations and scenic destinations with you guys and gals. Keep posted to the blog for more trip details and hopefully pictures and video as this amazing adventure is LIVED out in 2007. Chao! :)

PS: Happy belated Children's Day! It was June 1st, the day after I arrived here technically (by a mere few hours). So good to know this specific holiday exists here; it is good to see Chinese kids play and be kids! May we that are His always remain child-like for our Papa and King.

Did you feel the effects of the earthquake in China? Little Granny called this a.m. with concern in her voice. I assured her that China is a REALLY big place. I was sure that you were fine. If not, that too was in His hands. Love you lots. Mama
